Tips and Tricks of the Trade
I've had rabbits a long time and have discovered many
interesting things about raising, showing and keeping them
healthy. I thought I might share some of these insights.
** For a fresher rabbit barn we use horse stall freshener.
I'm sure there are a few ones the market but we use one
that's called Sweet PFZ and we get it at Roswell Livestock
and Farm Supply. It's in granule form and after dump and
wash out our plastic pans, we sprinkle about a half a cup into
the bottom of the pan. I'm always careful not to expose the
rabbits to the small amount of dust that comes off of it--just
in case. Our barn is located across from a huge dairy so
flies are always a problem. After we started using this
product, our barn is fresher and the flies have decreased
by half (at least). I guess flies don't like to climb around in
"freshened" poo! This stuff also works in the bottom of your
carrying cages. Sprinkle some on the bottom of the pan
before you put in your pine shavings. It makes the car ride
home a lot sweeter.
